THE SONIC READYMADE

In 1917, Marcel Duchamp placed a urinal on a pedestal and called it art. He didn’t sculpt. He chose. He designated. He named.

In 2026, I place a song generated by artificial intelligence on an album and call it a work of art. I didn’t program. I chose. I designated. I named.

AI is my urinal.

Magritte painted a pipe and wrote beneath it: This is not a pipe. He was right. It was paint. What you are listening to is not artificial music. It is my voice, my words, my choices — dressed in a new medium.

AI is the instrument. The gesture is the art.

I am Gaël Corna. Software engineer. Self-taught baroque tenor. 58 years old. Gay. From Toulouse. And since 2026, an artist under the name Insane Puppy.

This project is called The In-Between Cycle. It runs from 2026 to 2028. It consists of six albums, a mobile application, and a film. It is a complete work — not a discography. Each part asks the same question from a different angle: who watches, who is watched, who exists, who is rendered invisible.

In-Between speaks of gay men over forty — those rendered invisible by dating apps, those forgotten by LGBTQ+ culture, those who have a first album to make at 58 because it’s now or never.

In-Between Acoustic is the stripped-down version of the first album. Acoustic music created by an algorithm — the deliberate paradox of organic warmth produced by a cold machine.

A Simple Love Story tells a true story — a toxic triangular relationship between three men. A fifty-minute film will accompany it.

This Ain’t No Soul is the cycle’s manifesto album. Classic soul, gospel, feminine perspective. The divas as spectacular bodies consumed by the industry. One song answers HAL 9000. Another sings from inside the Mona Lisa’s painting.

Music for a Catwalk is functional music — post-ambient industrial in the lineage of Brian Eno. Women as displayed objects, coat hangers, urinals.

In-Between 2 will close the cycle. It is not yet conceptualized. It will be born from what the first five have produced.

All these albums are produced by artificial intelligence. Every lyric, every melody, every arrangement is written and directed by me. AI is not a shortcut — it is the medium. As paint was for Magritte. As silkscreen was for Warhol. As prepared piano was for John Cage.

Warhol took a popular icon and made radical art. I take a popular tool and make a conceptual work. The surface is accessible. The depth is demanding. It is the same gesture.

All titles are registered at SACEM. I am the author.

This is not a manifesto.

It is a pipe.
